Sumsaré Family Wines is tucked away in Agterkliphoogte; a valley where lush vineyards are cultivated in deep, cool, rich lime soil which contrast desolate Karoo plains and picturesque surrounding mountains.
This boutique cellar offers an exclusive variety of handcrafted wines. Personal involvement and attention to detail from vine to bottle by the Erasmus Family results in some of the finest wines produced in South Africa.
Sumsaré takes its name from Erasmus spelled backwards. The first Erasmus ancestors started out on the family farm in the year of 1810. The farm has been in production for two centuries, now housing the seventh generation, to cultivate their vineyards at Wandsbeck farm.
Sumsaré Family Wines is situated in the Robertson area, a 2 hour drive from Cape Town.
